Delicious steak pie made my stay enjoyable. poor shower pressure was a letdown.

missingWrote a review on Nov 06stunning surroundingsin-house microbreweryhearty mealsoutdated decor
The setting boasts stunning surroundings ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with direct access to various walking routes. The in-house microbrewery delivers a good variety of beverages that complement the hearty meals, particularly the impressive steak and ale pie that I devoured with delight.
The noise disturbances from the pub below could interrupt an evening's peace, especially if you are assigned a room over the bar. While the decor maintains a certain charm, many areas feel quite outdated, with some elements in need of modernization to elevate the overall comfort. Bed comfort varies significantly. I found my mattress in room 14 unusually old and springy, leading to restless nights. Lastly, the shower pressure left much to be desired—certainly not what you'd expect for a refreshing after-hike rinse.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Strands Inn. The location couldn't be better for climbing Scafell Pike. The atmosphere felt charmingly traditional. Breakfast had generous servings, featuring quality ingredients that really hit the spot. Dinner was well-prepared too, with homemade options that satisfied after a long day of hiking. the room decor felt quite outdated, and the bed wasn't very comfortable. The bathroom was small and a bit cramped. I experienced noise disturbances from the bar area in the evenings, which made it hard to relax. I also noticed staff shortages, causing delays in service, particularly during peak times. Some hairdryers in the rooms would have been a nice touch since I had to ask at the front desk instead. I think there's great potential, but a little updating and more attention to service would elevate the experience!
